The Minnesota Vikings have finally done the thing.
They have activated offensive guard Dalton Risner from injured reserve and have placed defensive tackle Taki Taimani on injured reserve. They have also elevated defensive lineman Jalen Redmond from the practice squad.
This is something that we have been expecting to happen and the Vikings nearly waited out the entire 21-day window, which was set to expire on Monday. Risner will help provide more depth on the interior of the offensive line.
His presence will also heighten the noise about Risner replacing Ed Ingram at right guard. There have been a lot of whispers about that potentially happening once Risner was ready. The one element about this that raises questions is that coaches have said that Risner is healthy for a couple of weeks. There is the potential that Ingram has done enough to keep his job over the last two weeks.
Taimani will be missed on defense, as he has done a really good job in his 10-12 snaps in run defense over the course of the season. Redmond has also played well in limited opportunities and will likely do a good job in his place.
The Vikings and Colts kick off at 7:20 p.m. CT on Sunday night.
