This hasn't been an easy year for the Minnesota Vikings.

The loss of Kirk Cousins early, a revolving door at quarterback to mixed results, and a lot of what ifs mixed with an uncertain future aren't easy to stomach, but there are still some bright spots to take heart in.

This Vikings team is still mathematically alive for the playoffs in the final week of the season, a fact that most people never saw as a true possibility. This is a testament to some excellent coaching, and the NFL world recognized that this week.

Many teams would fold if they were in the same position as Minnesota. It isn't easy to lose a combination of your most important players during a year where the hype was as big as ever.

Fortunately, that didn't stop for any side of the ball.

All three sides of the ball were able to play up to the level of their competition with the next-man-up mentality on display, and coordinators Brian Flores (defense) and Matt Daniels (special teams) should get their flowers for these accomplishments.

The Vikings may not make it to the playoffs with the deck stacked against them, but these two coordinators did get recognized by the league as a whole via player vote:

Coordinators often play a large, underrated role on most teams throughout the league. The head coaches usually get most of the praise (and hate), but at the end of the day, guys like Brian Flores and Matt Daniels make waves that aren't always seen in the mainstream media.

However, the players do see this, and a vote like this does show just how valued these two coaches are for the Vikings.

This season probably won't end like most fans wanted it to, but there have been plenty of positive takeaways to focus on as this team showed the highest level of resiliency, and this recognition is one of those things to take pride in.

After the Chicago Bears' loss to the Detroit Lions this past week, head coach Matt Eberflus said QB Justin Fields would play in Week 18 if healthy. On Monday, Eberflus changed his tune a bit. According to ESPN's Courtney Cronin, Eberflus said that conversations would take place this week with general manager Ryan Poles regarding […]
