Minnesota Vikings’ 2025 season has been disastrous, and it got worse with WR Justin Jefferson doing something never before seen

Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson didn’t answer questions for the media after Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks, and that’s a major issue.

Make no mistake about it: the 2025 Minnesota Vikings aren’t just a bad football team; the entire season has been a mitigated disaster.

It all started with injuries at quarterback. J.J. McCarthy suffered a high ankle sprain against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2, then he hurt his hand against the Baltimore Ravens, and suffered a concussion against the Green Bay Packers just two weeks later. On top of all that, Carson Wentz suffered a significant shoulder injury that ended his season.

Those injuries have been a massive issue for the Vikings, affecting every aspect, especially with the elite pass catchers on the roster.

Justin Jefferson’s frustration appears to boil over

Sunday’s game was the culmination of a frustrating season for superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson. He was targeted six times, but caught just two passes for a paltry four yards. Those numbers are not becoming of a player of his caliber. In fact, his box score since the game before the bye week against the Cleveland Browns, when he had over 100 yards, has been brutal.

Those numbers are concerning, and you can tell by watching him on the field. He’s shown more frustration this season than in any other, and it’s been more than warranted.

No matter the situation with Jefferson, there hasn’t been a time when a trade would be considered. Even when Jefferson was dealing with his contract extension and the national media wanted him to be traded, there was not a single peep other than professionalism. Could that change? Well, after the game, he declined to speak to the media, which might be the first time that’s happened.

There are a few different routes to go with this. One, it’s entirely fair that Jefferson is frustrated. It’s been a tough season, especially one with a lot of expectations. Second, we should remember that Jefferson is a human being. When those frustrations continue to build, many would struggle to deal with them, and needing some time to compose yourself is perfectly normal. The third and final aspect is simple: could those frustrations have finally boiled over? He expressed those frustrations after the game last week against the Packers.

“It’s frustrating to be up here and say the same things every single week. You say the same things, expecting for something to change, and we’re still in the same spot,” said Jefferson after the loss vs. the Packers.

There is no answer as to how things are right now, and I don’t think anyone would blame Jefferson for being so frustrated that he wants either significant changes or a trade away from the Vikings. Stefon Diggs, Percy Harvin, and Randy Moss all got traded away during their prime, so the Vikings have done it before.

Is Jefferson next? The speculation is going to get more intense as things continue to spiral, but we won’t know for a while, maybe not until closer to free agency. It’s just another cog in the brutal season for the Vikings.
