They need youth and upside at the mosition more than anything behind Byron Murphy Jr. Mekhi Blackmon and Dwight McGlothern are the cornerbacks they have on rookie contracts right now and they could use an influx of upside. General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has selected six defensive backs over his first three drafts.

The Vikings could get a massive influx of upside with their cornerback room in East Carolina CB Shavon Revel Jr., as they are hosting him on a top 30 visit this week.

Vikings set to host CB Shavon Revel Jr.

It's a really interesting prospect for the Vikings to bring in. We will get to the interesting reasons for his visit in a minute, but the talent is really impressive. My scouting report on Revel was incredibly positive, as I have him as my CB2 behind just Travis Hunter.

Revel is a legit prospect. He honestly looks like the prototype for Pete Carroll in the Legion of Boom era. He's got an incredible amount of length with plus athleticism and ball skills to make an impact consistently.

His versatility being someone who can play in both man and zone coverage is something that Brian Flores can thrive with. That kind of flexibility is huge for how Flores likes to play defense, especially with his willingness to tackle and play the run. It would be great to put him on the outside in this defense and thrive.

Revel thrives in zone coverage but also has the chops to succeed in man. What makes him really impressive is his ability to recover with his athleticism and length. He can flip his hips and eat up ground with ease.

There are some interesting caveats with Revel that make him an interesting visit. The Vikings' NFL Draft history with Adofo-Mensah says that Revel won't be a player they will want due to his age (23) and he didn't play at a power-four school (East Carolina).

The other major one that Adofo-Mensah hasn't shied away from is that Revel is injured. He tore his ACL back in September and missed the rest of the season. Luckily, he should be a full participant in the offseason program once he is selected.
