Injuries continue to hinder the Minnesota Vikings at multiple positions. After some tough sledding in July with multiple injuries, August started off okay but quickly turned with quarterback J.J. McCarthy having his season ended with a torn meniscus.

The next week at joint practices with the Cleveland Browns, the Vikings suffered multiple injuries but the biggest one was to wide receiver Jordan Addison. Trying to catch a pass, Addison leaped for the ball but had a defender come down hard on his ankle and he was carted off.

Positive news on Jordan Addison's ankle injury

SKOR North's Darren Wolfson appeared on the Scoop session on the Minnesota Sports With Mackey and Judd podcast providing an update on Addison's injury.

"We're dealing with a pretty significant ankle sprain that is going to set him back for at least another week, to two weeks like I think he'll be back practicing the Wednesday of (New York) Giants week, whatever that Wednesday is, that September 3 or September 4, leading into Sunday, September 8. But I don't know if the ankle is going to be 100% in that moment. This type of ankle injury takes multiple weeks to truly recover from, plus it's one we'll have to keep an eye on once he's back out there. And so it's not necessarily great news.

"It's not doom and gloom, he's going to be back. But yeah, it's still going to be a little bit."

It's a tough one for the Vikings, as Addison is going to be needed with tight end T.J. Hockenson still out recovering from his torn ACL. The big question about his ankle injury is whether or not the injury was a high ankle sprain. Wolfson couldn't confirm it, but believes it to be the case.

"I don't know definitively, but I'm like to believe that you're down the right path. How about I say that."

High ankle sprains usually take around 4-6 weeks to heal and Addison coming back for week one against the Giants would put him at a three-and-a-half week recovery time.

Only time will tell if Addison will return to practice at the three-week mark, but the Vikings sure could use it.
