Ever since the Green Bay Packers traded Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets, there have been whispers about him taking the Brett Favre route and ending up the Minnesota Vikings quarterback.
Those rumors got a lot stronger on Friday night and into Saturday when reports surfaced about the Vikings being interested in him.
Does it make sense for Rodgers to go to the Vikings? You can argue both sides with conviction with them being centered around quarterback J.J. McCarthy.
Sauce Garder praises Aaron Rodgers
What is really interesting about the potential acquisition of Rodgers is how good he might be with the Vikings. His results with the Jets this past year were mixed, but he was also coming off of a torn Achilles tendon, which can rob you of a lot of movement skills.
One of Rodgers' teammates who played against him every day in practice thinks the world of him if he went to the Vikings. Two-time All Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner thinks he will be at the top of the league in quarterback stats.
It's hard to argue with Gardner here. Head coach Kevin O'Connell is somewhat of a quarterback guru. He took Josh Dobbs in and had him lead a comeback victory just five days after he arrived in the building against the Atlanta Falcons on the road. O'Connell also got the best out of Kirk Cousins, Nick Mullens, and Jaren Hall.
All of that came before the resurgence of Sam Darnold. His 4,319 yards and 35 touchdowns weren't just career highs for Darnold, but it earned him both a Pro Bowl nod and Most Valuable Player conversation.
Imagine putting a veteran with the savvy and talent that Rodgers has with O'Connell and the immaculate weapons the Vikings have. Plus, it might be enough to woo Davante Adams to Minnesota for a year to really create an incredible offense.
Could it happen? Who knows, but there are believers, and who are we to doubt an All-Pro who saw him in practice every day.
