Giants decide to move on from Daniel Jones and land the first QB off the board in a new 2025 mock draft

After an incredible start to Brian Daboll's era as the New York Giants head coach, the team has now had back-to-back disappointing seasons.
Both of these decisions were made after the team's decision to give starting quarterback Daniel Jones a massive four-year contract worth $160 million. To say they regret that decision at this point would be an understatement. Change is certainly needed in the Big Apple right about now, which is precisely what Ryan Roberts of A to Z Sports did in his most recent mock draft.
Giants land Miami QB Cam Ward in a new mock draft

"It didn’t take long to realize that the Daniel Jones Era wasn’t going to work. The Giants need a reset at quarterback, and that’s exactly what Ward provides. Ward might be a bit boom-or-bust as a prospect but New York needs to take a chance that it’s the former."
– New A to Z Sports Mock Draft
If the season ended today, the Giants would own the second pick in the draft behind only the Jacksonville Jaguars. If the board actually fell this way, it could mean the Giants would have their pick of any QB in this year's draft class. The clear top two options that any QB-needy team would consider are Miami's Cameron Ward and Colarado's Shedeur Sanders.
There are arguments that can be made for both QBs, but in this mock draft, the Giants landed Ward, who I would select if all QBs were on the board. Ward's ability to extend plays with his legs and make throws out of the pocket off-script is second to none in this year's class. Whichever team drafts him will try and improve his overall process as a passer, raise his floor as a player, and eliminate some of the mistakes he makes by forcing throws into undesirable coverages at times. While there may be some bumps on the way, I believe Ward would be able to start day one, wherever he is drafted, and has the make-up to be a great pro if given the support he needs from his coaches and teammates.
