The main topic surrounding the New York Giants this offseason is who will be their quarterback in 2025.

Their late-season win over the Indianapolis Colts dropped them out of the top pick in the draft. They now own the third pick and are in danger of missing out on the top two QBs, Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders. A new A to Z Sports mock draft, though, has them passing on one of the QBs even though they are available at pick three for arguably the best player in the draft.

Giants pass on Shedeur Sanders and select his teammate Travis Hunter instead in a new 2025 NFL Mock Draft

"Over the last two seasons Travis Hunter has amassed 2000 receiving yards, 20 receiving touchdowns, seven interceptions, and more than a dozen passes defended as one of the best cornerbacks and wide receivers in all of football. The Giants could benefit from adding one of the most versatile talents in the history of the game. Yes, they need a quarterback, but in a class with less than perfect prospects at the position they gamble here, hoping to grab their signal caller in round two (or trade back into round one)."

New A to Z Sports Mock Draft

In this mock draft, Cam Ward and Abdul Carter were off the board by the time the Giants were on the clock. This means Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders was available, but instead, they passed on him for his teammate, reigning Heisman winner Travis Hunter. If this happened, I would be very interested to see how fans would react.

On one hand, they would be landing a dynamic two-way player in Hunter, who could be a great fit to play both wide receiver and corner for the Giants. But they would also have the chance to give the fan baser a young, promising QB to rally around. Having that chance and choosing not to do it could certainly lead a portion of the fan base to react negatively. Even if the consolation prize, in this case, is a better prospect in Travis Hunter.
