The New York Giants' plans in the upcoming draft are still unclear, but it sure sounds like quarterback is not the likely path after the team signed Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in free agency. So, barring a trade down, the probable outcome includes taking one of the two elite prospects of this class—since quarterback Cam Ward is expected to be the first overall pick. And if the Cleveland Browns take cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter, the Giants might end up with edge defender Abdul Carter.

On Friday, Carter shared a social media post that will make Giants fans extremely excited about what may be ahead. It's a card of the legendary Lawrence Taylor, with a quote from former Giants owner Wellington T. Mara: "Once a Giant, always a Giant."

Lawrence Taylor is widely considered one of the greatest defensive players of all time, if not the greatest. He played 13 seasons for the Giants, including two Super Bowl championships, an MVP award, three defensive player of the year selections, and he was named eight times to the First-Team All-Pro and twice to the Second-Team All-Pro.

It's nearly impossible to reach that level, but Abdul Carter is clearly motivated to follow LT's path. And if that's the case, doing it for the Giants could be particularly special.

Intriguing decision

With Cam Ward off the board, the rest of the top 4 will be fascinating in this year's draft. The big question if the Browns or Giants would be willing to take quarterback Shedeur Sanders instead of one of the top prospects.

Both teams have acquired two quarterbacks each in the past few weeks (Wilson and Winston for the Giants, Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco for the Browns), which might give an indication of the teams' plans to get a developmental quarterback later, while grabbing Hunter and Carter with their top picks.

The New York Giants are slated to have eight draft picks, including two third-rounders. A quarterback might be a more realistic option with the 34th overall pick, the second one of the second round.

Last season, Abdul Carter had 12 sacks for Penn State, finishing his college career with 23 total sacks over three seasons.
