Robert Saleh has said that he won’t let the embarrassing loss to the Dallas Cowboys last week “snowball”. Unfortunately, he is about to go to Mount Belichick and it’s snowy and steep.
There is no secret to the Jets woes against the hated New England Patriots. Zach Wilson is 0-5 against the Patriots in his career and is just another QB in a long list of Jets QB’s who haven’t fared well against Belichick.
The Jets have lost 14 straight against New England. The last time the Jets won against New England was an overtime win in which Ryan Fitzpatrick hit Eric Decker for the game winning score back in 2015.
Garrett Wilson was adamant that the Jets want to end the streak of losses vs. the Patriots this week. 'You have no business losing to anyone that many times in a row!' Wilson said.
With that idea in mind, here are some Jets players that need to step up in order to end the streak and get the Jets back on track.
Four Players Who Need to Step up for the Jets vs. Patriots
1- Zach Wilson

It can’t be all on him. That’s obvious. But if the Jets believe that Bill Belichick is going to allow the Jets to simply run all over them knowing that Zach is behind center, then every single member of the offensive staff needs to be fired immediately.
Wilson did not look great against the Cowboys, but it wasn’t all his fault. The offensive line let him down. The coaches need to do a better job of putting him in a position to win.
The Jets need to do a few max-protect pass plays in which two players go out on a route and the rest of the team stays in to block. Wilson has two reads and then he can use his athleticism to take off it the pass isn’t there.
Wilson needs to have an efficient 200-225 yards passing or this will be a long week, and an even longer season.
2- Mekhi Becton and whoever plays the other tackle

I have been saying it all offseason. I said it week one. I said it week two and I will likely be saying it in week 17, the Jets need better play (or players) at the tackle position.
Becton played well enough in a limited run game last week, but Brown was abused by the entire Cowboys defense. The turnstiles at the tackle positions will have Bill Belichick salivating.
The Jets just placed Duane Brown on the IR with a hip issue which leaves the Jets looking at the next man up.
Becton is still learning the right tackle position but needs to make a leap forward this week in his learning curve.
3- Quinnen Williams

He has not been bad by any stretch of the imagination. The problem is he needs to be dominant and take over games. It’s not fair to put him in that position, but the fact is that what is needed.
He needs to have a similar game to what Micah Parsons had against the Jets last week.
The loss of Aaron Rodgers injury shifted the Jets from a balanced team to a team that can win games solely on the backs of their defense. Williams is the biggest game wrecker on the defense and needs to play like it.
4- Mecole Hardman

It’s hard to make an impact on a game when you don’t sniff the field. Hardman has seen a total of 14 snaps in his Jets career despite being healthy. His offensive impact on the Jets is a total of one catch for six yards.
This is the equivalent to using a sports car to run errands. Hardman isn’t a traditional wide receiver. He is more of an offensive weapon. He should be on the field if for no other reason than to be a decoy and give the defense something to think about.
Give him a jet sweep. Give him a wide receiver screen. Send him long on a play. Do something. ANYTHING.
Garrett Wilson can’t be the only thing in the passing game Bill Belichick needs to worry about, because he is going to take him away from Zach Wilson.
The Jets are currently sitting at 1-1 but it is no secret this game against the Patriots means more. They need to end the losing streak to New England. They need to keep up in the division. Two of their next three games are against teams that played in the Super Bowl last season.
The weather will not be kind at MetLife Stadium and the skies are growing darker for the Jets season as well.
If Robert Saleh doesn’t want things to snowball, it’s best not to let it start rolling downhill in the first place.

If they can’t run, they can’t win.
