The New York Giants were primed to hold the number one overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft but saw it slip away after pulling off an upset win over the Indianapolis Colts late in the season.

Now, they sit at third and won't be able to draft their top quarterback in the class. Some believe they may pass on taking a QB in the first round altogether now, which is what happened in a new A to Z Sports mock draft, which had them waiting till the second round to select a prospect with a sky-high ceiling.

"I'm not convinced that signing Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston will stop the Giants from drafting a quarterback early. Jalen Milroe is the perfect developmental quarterback for Brian Daboll to take a swing on."

New A to Z Sports mock draft

Not landing Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders may feel like a failure of a draft for some Giants fans. But if they do elect to pass on the position in the first round, Alabama's Jalen Milroe is certainly one of the most intriguing options for the team to consider on day two of the draft. Milroe is a special athlete at the QB position, and his arm strength is among the strongest in the class. But he is still a raw QB prospect when it comes to his overall passing ability. His sporadic accuracy will have to be fixed before he can be a starter at the pro level, but Brian Daboll's experience with Josh Allen could make him the perfect head coach for Milroe.

Daboll was the offensive coordinator with the Buffalo Bills from 2018 to 2021 before accepting the Giants head coaching job. The Bills drafted Josh Allen in the 2018 NFL Draft, and with the team's head coach, Sean McDermott, specializing on the defensive side of the ball, Daboll was the lead offensive mind tasked with developing Allen. As a prospect, Allen was viewed as a big risk, coming from a group of five school at Wyoming, where he only started two seasons. His mobility and arm strength were evident on tape, but he failed to complete 60% of his passes in either year as a starter. His footwork in the pocket needed a lot of work, and he struggled early in his NFL career as a result. During his rookie season, he only threw 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Daboll helped Allen make a big leap in 2019 (20 TDs / 9 Ints) and helped him take another step forward in 2020 (37 TDs / 10 Ints) and 2021 (36 TDs / 15 Ints). His work with Allen landed him the job with the Giants, and if they draft Milroe, it'll give him the chance to prove his work with Allen wasn't a fluke.
