Well, New York Giants fans can get to shopping if they want a new jersey for the 2025 NFL season.
That's because Russell Wilson just got the perfect gift from one of his new teammates, cornerback Deonte Banks: The right to wear No. 3, which the quarterback has worn each of his years in the NFL.
Wilson announced the news on social media while shouting out the Giants' starting cornerback.
"Salute to my guy & young star Tae Banks!," Wilson posted on X. "Grateful for you letting me wear #3 King! Full of gratitude."
The Giants announced on social media that Banks is switching to No. 2 as a result. It will be his third jersey number in a three-year span, as he wore No. 25 as a rookie.
Though many will shrug off the jersey number news as unimportant, Banks' decision is a sign of Wilson being welcome with open arms in the Giants' organization.
It's no secret Wilson's personality has become a point of controversy, from his last days in Seattle to a brief stint in Denver and most recently in Pittsburgh. Reports have emerged on the Steelers' coaching staff having some differences with Wilson.
With a simple decision like giving up a jersey number, Banks is doing his part to show Wilson is more than welcome now that the former Super Bowl champion is set to start at quarterback.
Wilson signed a one-year deal worth $10.5 million (that could be worth much more) and is expected to be the starting quarterback of the Giants in 2025. The front office also signed veteran QB Jameis Winston, who is expected to back up Wilson. However, the starting job isn't guaranteed. The Giants could still address the position in the NFL Draft as early as with the No. 3 overall pick, specially if Shedeur Sanders doesn't head to Cleveland before they go on the clock.
