Now that the Jets have found their head coach and their GM, their attention can turn to the roster. The Jets are in a weird place with their current roster. There is a lot of talent at almost every level, and new GM Darren Mougey expects the team to win games this year, but there is a lot of under achieving to go along with that talent.

The Jets will need to find a way to iron out the quarterback situation and they are going to have to get creative to do it. But that isn’t the only position where they are going to have to figure things out.

Along the offensive side, the Jets have a lot of question marks that go beyond the quarterback position. With that in mind, here is a list of offensive players whose future with the Jets is in question and whether they should stay or go.

Davante Adams, WR

The talent is there even if it is on the decline. He is savage competitor, but he is here because of Aaron Rodgers. One of two things should be true for the New York Jets next season. Either Aaron Rodgers should be gone, or Aaron Rodgers should have zero control over the offense (that is to say, any more than any other quarterback would have) and zero control over personnel. Davante Adams contract is an albatross, and I can’t see him signing up for another year of this at a discounted rate.

Verdict: Go

Garrett Wilson, WR

He is only on this list because of the rumors circulating that he may ask for a trade. Let me say this upfront and loudly. Garrett Wilson is currently the most important member of the Jets offense and is under team control for possibly four more seasons if they want to use the franchise tags. The number one call the new GM should have made was to him and his agent and let them know that Wilson will be a Jet for life and they are going to do everything they can to make him happy both financially and on the field. You do not let this man leave the franchise and make the team as such that he is happy to be here. Pay him. Get him a quarterback. Thank him for his service.

Verdict: Stay

Morgan Moses, OT

Moses will be 34 years old at the start of next season, so a long-term deal will not be on the table for the two-time Jets offensive tackle. Moses is a good right tackle and an even better locker room presence. The Jets will need to add some depth along the offensive line this off-season, but they would be just fine retaining Moses to start at right tackle along a young offensive line.

Verdict: Stay

Tyler Conklin, TE

Conklin is a solid tight end and has played well in his tenure with the Jets, but never really popped on the offense. It is a weak free agent class, with Conklin being one of the best available. The Jets don’t have a better option available, but I can’t see them getting in a bidding war for average tight end play. I would attempt to resign him, but at a price he is likely able to beat on the free agent market.

Verdict: Stay if possible but likely go

Tyron Smith, OT

Tyron Smith was one of the bigger failed experiments of the 2024 season for the Jets. He is a wonderful guy who doesn’t have much or any football left in his massive body. This is easy an easy decision if Smith decides to play one more year.

Verdict: Go

Allen Lazard, WR

Lazard never lived up to the potential the Jets signed him for whether it was with Zach Wilson or Aaron Rodgers at quarterback. Between the drops and the penalties, he always seemed to let the fans down. This is an easy one to get off the books.

Verdict: Go

These are not the only question marks on the Jets offense, but these are the bigger names that the Jets will need to decide on. Some other depth pieces including Kenny Yeboah, Wes Schweitzer, and Xavier Newman-Johnson I think the Jets should attempt to bring back in a similar role if they get the opportunity.
