Patrick Mahomes is no stranger to playing in the Super Bowl. And he made sure to get that across in a very simple way.
So when asked how he prepares for this huge game, the quarterback didn't hesitate.
You only have a routine if you've been to the Super Bowl a few times. And that definitely applies to Mahomes.
Sunday's game will mark the fourth Super Bowl appearance since Patrick Mahomes entered the league in 2017.
He first took the Kansas City Chiefs to the Super Bowl in 2019, which was his third season. Mahomes got past the Houston Texans and the Tennessee Titans in the Divisional Round and AFC Championship respectively. And with that, they punched their ticket to Super Bowl LIV, which was the first time for the Chiefs since 1970.
They went on to defeat the San Franscico 49ers, which gave Mahomes his first ring. Oh and not to mention he was named Super Bowl MVP.
The following season, the Chiefs earned a spot in the Super Bowl once again. But Mahomes was met with the most difficult task of his career: going up against Tom Brady in a game that the quarterback was very familiar with.
And Brady's expertise proved to be too much, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers handing Mahomes and the Chiefs a loss in Super Bowl LV.
In 2021, the Chiefs were knocked out of Super Bowl contention in the AFC Championship by the Cincinnati Bengals. But they used that as motivation in the 2022 season and went on to win yet another Super Bowl. To no surprise, it was Mahomes who was awarded the Super Bowl MVP awarded once again.
And now they are looking to get back-to-back wins in Mahomes and the Chiefs fourth Super Bowl appearance in five years.
So moral of the story: it's no surprise why Mahomes has his routine down to a science.
