Philadelphia Eagles’ longtime security guard Dom DiSandro, aka “Big Dom,” was slapped with a massive fine over the weekend for what he did on the sideline during the team’s final preseason game against the New York Jets.

According to NFL insider Derrick Gunn, Big Dom owes $75,000 to the league.

“According to league source, Eagles head of security/coach Dom DiSandro was fined 75 thou this past week for texting from the bench area during the Jets preseason game…the team filed an appeal, but it was denied,” Gunn wrote on X/Twitter.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo added that the Eagles attempted to fight the fine since Big Dom had only one foot in the bench area, but unfortunately, his “five toes” were enough.

NFL players, coaches, and team staff are prohibited from using, wearing, or carrying any personal electronic devices, such as cell phones, smartwatches, laptops, or tablets, that the league has not issued. This restriction takes effect at kickoff and applies to the bench area, locker room, and coaches’ booth. The policy is designed to prevent teams from sharing information during games that could lead to a competitive advantage, including updates on injuries or strategic decisions.

“Clubs are strongly encouraged to put pregame processes in place to ensure compliance. This should include verifying that each individual with bench area, locker room, and coaches’ booth access are not wearing or possessing a prohibited electronic device (e.g., cell phone, Apple Watch, Fitbit, etc.) at kickoff,” the NFL wrote in a memo back in Dec. of 2022 when they did a big crackdown on teams having electronics on the sidelines.

Not the First Time Big Dom Received a Ridiculous Fine

This is not the first time Big Dom has been fined for something so ridiculous.

During the 2023 season, the NFL handed him a $100,000 fine for getting involved in a sideline scuffle with San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw during Week 13. He was also suspended from the sidelines for the remainder of the regular season.

However, the Eagles allegedly paid his fine that time.
