The Philadelphia Eagles added some more competition at linebacker ahead of Friday night’s preseason finale against the New York Jets.
The team announced on Thursday that they had signed linebacker Chance Campbell and released wide receiver Giles Jackson in a corresponding move.
Campbell was originally a 2022 sixth-round pick of the Tennessee Titans, where he has spent the last three seasons. However, he missed his rookie year and last fall due to injuries. In his lone healthy season with the Titans, Campbell appeared in four games, making three tackles.
Campbell looks to be back to full health after his ACL injury, but he will face an uphill battle versus Smael Mondon, Dallas Gant and Lance Dixon in order to make the 53-man roster. He will wear No. 59 for the Birds.
As for Jackson, the Eagles signed him back in May after he went undrafted out of Washington following the 2025 NFL Draft. He totaled 135 catches for 1,414 yards and nine touchdowns over four seasons with the Huskies.
The Eagles’ wide receiver competition is crowded right now, especially after they traded for John Metchie last weekend, so moving on from Jackson won’t hurt them at all.
