Eagles owner reveals the biggest reason why Philadelphia might get a domed stadium when it's all said and done

The Philadelphia Eagles are no strangers to rumors about a potential new stadium being in the horizon. The franchise that's called the Lincoln Financial Field its home since 2003 hasn't announced any plans, however, but a big question will inevitably be: Closed or open roof? To dome or not to dome, that is the question.
Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie weighed in on the matter during Monday's Super Bowl Opening Night. He started by admitting an affinity for "weather games."
"I don't have a strong opinion about it, because you're torn," Lurie told reporters via Eliot Shorr-Parks. "I love outdoor football. I love it, I love the cold games, I like the hot games, I like the snow games."
However, Lurie revealed the biggest reason why the Eagles could consider putting a dome on their next home: Attracting big events such as the Super Bowl the Eagles are about to partake in.
"On the other hand, Philadelphia deserves to host a Super Bowl, NCAA Final Four, lots of, lots of great events," he argued. "It's an incredible sport city, Does it deserve that? Yes. So you got to balance all those things."
The Minnesota Vikings got a dome for that exact reason. The Buffalo Bills also considered it before taking another route. These are cold-weather cities just like Philly that could benefit from the "home field advantage" and that could be enticed by tradition to keep things the same. But domes open up so many doors.
Someday, it will be decision time for the Eagles though that's far from the priority this week. Right now, it's all about securing the second Lombardi Trophy in franchise history.
And of course, it will be played in New Orleans' Superdome. So there's that.
