NFL expert weighs in on what the Eagles need to do offensively to take advantage of the Vikings in Week 7
It’s time for the Eagles to get back on track. Here’s how they can do that in Week 7.
The Philadelphia Eagles (4-2) have hit a rough patch, dropping two straight games in less than a week to end their perfect start. Now, they’ll try to bounce back on the road against the Minnesota Vikings (3-2).
Philly’s offensive coordinator, Kevin Patullo, has found himself under the microscope after the recent skid, and getting the offense back on track this week will be a major key.

3 Burning Questions for Eagles’ Week 7 Rebound Game vs. Minnesota Vikings
The Eagles had to prepare to face Carson Wentz and JJ McCarthy this week. Who do you think gets the start?
We will likely have that answer on Friday afternoon, but it’s shaping up to be Wentz. Head coach Kevin O’Connell has been steadfast about not rushing McCarthy, who told reporters that his ankle is not yet 100%. The Vikings are playing the long game with McCarthy and don’t want to put him out there until he’s 100% healthy and has a full week of practice. After being limited each of the first two days of practice, it’s very likely that Wentz is going to be the starter, and the book is out on how to beat him.
What is one underrated weak spot the Vikings have that the Eagles might be able to take advantage of on Sunday?
It’s the run defense. The Vikings are 2nd in the NFL in EPA/play allowed, and first in EPA/dropback allowed. Against the run, they are 25th in EPA/play allowed with a success rate at 19th. It’s a problem for multiple reasons, with the biggest one being that they no longer have a viable nose tackle after trading Harrison Phillips to the New York Jets.
Over the last four games, which have been the worst four performances of the season, they haven’t had linebacker Blake Cashman, who has missed that time with a hamstring injury. He is set to return on Sunday against the Eagles, which will be huge in fixing the biggest issue on the defense.

The Vikings are in a very interesting spot. They haven’t been great coming out of the bye week, including a loss last season and the 3-0 ugly game against the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023. It’s been an interesting ride when it comes to coming off the bye week. This team is coming in much healthier than they have been all season, and it should be majorly impactful.
The key is going to be how Flores’ defense is going to do against Hurts. His defense is the exact kryptonite for how Hurts likes to play football. If they can get Barkley going, things will become more difficult for the Vikings overall. Being that it’s a home game, I think the Vikings find a way to get it done, but it’ll be close.
