The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback situation remains in limbo.

While Aaron Rodgers is still the team's top option, the team is doing its due diligence regarding the NFL Draft and other veterans.

But it seems that they may be closing in on Rodgers, who, after having a stellar visit, just had a throwing session with a recently acquired star WR…

Aaron Rodgers has a throwing session with DK Metcalf

“Look, it is a process for Aaron Rodgers and my understanding is the latest step in the process was over the weekend at UCLA, he threw to DK Metcalf. They did have a throwing session, the two of them together, according to sources informed of that workout. So Rodgers is going through the process and checking all the boxes and I assume it was a good throwing session there with him and Metcalf. So we’ll see if that leads to him saying, you know what? I’m fully in. I like that guy. I like that target right there.”

For the Steelers, this is a significant step. For one, players who are thinking about retiring, aren't having throwing sessions at the end of March and certainly not with star wide receivers like DK Metcalf.

Add in the fact that the Steelers, you know, the team most tied to Aaron Rodgers, are the one's who happen to employ said star WR, and it's clear that the consistent dialogue and relationship between the Steelers and Rodgers is starting to add up.

“It's been reported that he spent a day with us, and it was a really good day," Coach Tomlin told the media on Sunday. "Specifically, he and I obviously have known of each other for some time, and so it was really good to spend some time together man and get to know each other more intimately, but it is free agency. It is a process. I have nothing of any more significance to add other than that.”

So the news matters. For Pittsburgh, it's just another piece to the puzzle that is signing Aaron Rodgers. It appears that at this point, he's the one doing his due diligence as it pertains to the Steelers and not the other way around.

If both parties are interested, which they are, it's time to move this relationship from the talking stage to the dating one.
