Steelers release veteran linebacker Myles Jack
The linebacker was slated to have an $11.25 million dollar cap hit in 2023.
After signing a pair of new linebackers in Cole Holcomb, and Elandon Roberts, the Steelers are parting ways with one of their own.
Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Pittsburgh Steelers are releasing linebacker Myles Jack.
Jack was a useful contributor in his lone season with the Steelers, totaling 104 tackles and three pass breakups in 2022.
The reason has little to do with his play on the field, but rather his contract off the field.
Releasing Jack in the final year of his deal saves $8 million against the cap and leaves $3.25M in dead money.
An overall cap hit of $11.25 million was too high for a utility player, and a new regime seemingly revamping the linebacker corps.
