The Pittsburgh Steelers need an offensive lineman in the worst way.

Over a week into the league year, Pittsburgh hasn't picked up a center or a tackle.

But according to Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, that may be because they are looking into one of the 2024 NFL Draft's most talented tackles:

Fuaga Meets With Pittsburgh

Fuaga would be the Steelers' best bet in round one because he solves two dilemmas with one pick.

If selected, he would play right tackle, allowing Pittsburgh to put last year's rookie first-rounder Broderick Jones back to his natural position at left tackle.

Fuaga is an upgrade over what Dan Moore Jr. would be on the right side, and he allows Pittsburgh to get closer to their goals with Jones.

Beyond that however, Fuaga gives the Steelers flexibility down the line given his projection:

Fuaga’s hand work is exceptional in pass pro and will need to remain so, because of his lack of desired range for recovering when beaten. A team could slide him to guard to improve its interior protection, but he’s best suited at right tackle, where he should become a good starter. -Lance Zierlein, NFL Media

Can Pittsburgh Draft Him?

Here's the problem. While Fuaga is the perfect fit for Pittsburgh, when talking to people around the league and surveying some of the consensus, he has the attention of plenty of teams, many of whom pick before Pittsburgh.

Fuaga is sitting at 15th on the mock draft consensus board, but I expect that to only rise as we get closer to April, with one source telling me he's already a lot closer to the top 10 then 10-15.

So would Pittsburgh be willing to trade up for the second year in a row and take the tackle of their choosing?

We'll know soon enough.
