Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp has been an absolute machine this season.

Kupp finished the regular season with an astounding 145 receptions for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns.

In three playoff games this month, Kupp has 25 receptions for 386 yards and four touchdowns.

Unbelievable numbers.

It's not just the stats, though, that make Kupp one of the best players in the NFL right now. It's also the little things he does that a lot of folks never notice.

One of those "little things" was recently described by Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris as one of the most impressive things he's ever seen from a wide receiver (Morris has been coaching in the NFL for 20 years, so that comment carries a lot of weight).

In week one of the 2021 season, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford connected with wide receiver Van Jefferson for a 67-yard touchdown.

On that play, Kupp was in pass blocking duty. He ended up blocking Chicago Bears outside linebacker Robert Quinn (not something a wide receiver is usually tasked with doing).

Kupp said it was his favorite play of the year.

From The Athletic:

We were able to get little play-action, fake the run to the right and I had (outside linebacker) Robert Quinn on my side; I was just pass-blocking on the play. But Van’s running downfield, Rob (Robert Woods) is running right to left, he’s able to get the backside corner/safety to bite down at least just for a little bit. … Matthew did a great job. He gets out of the pocket, re-sets his feet and launches that thing all the way over to that right side. Just how we practiced it. That’s gonna be clinic tape.

Morris also spoke to The Athletic about that play:

To watch him block a D-end, an outside backer, with a combination block with a tackle or a tight end, it’s probably one of the most impressive things I’ve seen — from a receiver standpoint — of all time.

To so much of an effect, I had to go to him and tell him how wrong I was about him in my evaluation (of him), when I was coaching receivers. And I said, “I’m sorry. You’re the greatest. I love you.”

Kupp is certainly a special player. A true football junkie who loves every facet of the game.

The Washington native will have a chance to finish the season on the highest note possible in two weeks when the Rams take on the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI
