The 2025 NFL Draft is over, and it's now undrafted free agent season. The thing about undrafted free agents is that they're free agents. They can go sign with whatever team they want.

The thought is always that a guy will sign with the first team that offers them because hey, it's a shot at the NFL. That might happen, but it's not always the case. Players will decide to decline a team in order to bet on themselves and find a better opportunity to play.

That's what BYU cornerback Jakob Robinson did over the weekend when he turned down an offer from the Lions and two other teams to sign with the 49ers, per Sterling Bennett of 95.7 The Game in San Francisco.

It's pretty understandable why Robinson might turn down Detroit. The Lions are pretty set at cornerback right now. D.J. Reed, Terrion Arnold, Ennis Rakestraw, Amik Robertson, Rock Ya-Sin, and Khalil Dorsey. Things are pretty figured out there.

In San Francisco, changes are happening. Charvarious Ward, Isaac Yiadom, and Rock Ya-Sin are all gone. There's new openings and new opportunities.

The Lions did add an undrafted rookie cornerback in Gavin Holmes from Texas. We'll see how he does.
