The New Orleans Saints need a victory in Week 16. They'll have a tough opponent in Sean McVay's Los Angeles Rams, who are 4-1 in their last five games.
For New Orleans to win, Derek Carr will have to have another good performance. He must stack them after a great outing in Week 15 against the New York Giants. Against NY, Carr went 23/28 for 218 yards and three touchdowns. If he puts that stat line up again, the Saints should win against LA.
Unfortunately, luck has not been on his side against the Rams in his past. Carr hasn't played well against them, so he must flip the script.
In three starts against the Rams previously, Carr is winless. He's thrown for 613 yards, no touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
Carr's team has been outscored 102-29 in matchups against the Rams. It has not been pretty.
That being said, those three instances were with the Raiders. Now, Carr has a much better defense on his side. Plus, Chris Olave is expected to return for New Orleans. His weapons will be quite talented for Thursday night's showdown.
With a win, New Orleans will own a 72% chance of making the postseason, according to ESPN analytics. With a loss to Los Angeles, their projection for the playoffs drops to just 24%. The Saints must have a solid performance in primetime.
The Saints play the Rams on Amazon Prime Video at 7:15 P.M. central. Tune in.
