The Seattle Seahawks are busy! Wide receiver talent cannot be taken for granted, even coming off a Super Bowl victory.

Clearly, the front office in Seattle understands that concept and wants to continue giving Sam Darnold weapons he knows and trusts for years to come.

Seahawks match Jaguars offer for WR Jake Bobo

According to Tom Pelissero, Seattle isn’t letting Jake Bobo slip from their grasps. Instead, they are singing him to a two-year deal worth up to $7 million.

He was given an offer sheet by the Jacksonville Jaguars, but Seattle chose to match it. They clearly value his talent as key depth along their roster.

Keeping WR in focus for the offense

This news broke shortly after the Jaxon Smith-Njigba contract extension. The Seahawks made the young star wide receiver the highest-paid player at his position in the NFL – for good reason.

“Let’s pace it out. Because $42.15 million per year is a massive number to digest. 2026 will be his fourth season in the league, the final year on his original rookie contract. Then, in 2027, a $23.852M fifth-year option was exercised by the team earlier this winter. And now we are presumably stacking a four-year, $168.6 million deal that would start in 2028, when Smith-Njigba is 26 years old and fully in the prime of his career.” — Kyle Crabbs

Seattle certainly wanted to get both of these tasks done as soon as possible. They had a ticking clock for Bobo’s situation, but we also could have seen them wait with JSN.

They did not want to see other WR deals get done in the coming months, though, because it would haver only inflated his asking price even further. After Smith-Njigba’s 2025 campaign, it is understandable to think the Seahawks would prefer if he stays in their uniform for quite some time.

Now, he will most likely be teammates with Bobo for the next two seasons in Seattle.
