The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have several free agents they intend on bringing back this offseason, but don’t count on Rachaad White to be in red and pewter for a fifth year.

White’s made it clear through several social media posts that he will look elsewhere for work and the indication is he wants a bigger role. It makes sense, too, as White isn’t a home-run hitter by any means, but he’s a steady, reliable player who is good at all three phases of the game (running, receiving, pass protection).

Well, White was recently linked to an NFC team that makes a lot of sense for him.

NBC Sports’ Matthew Berry tabs the Cardinals as a good fit

Berry releases an article each year detailing rumors and conversations he had with multiple people across the league and while he makes it very clear everything he puts out is unsubstantiated, several items have come true, making the article a worthwhile venture, overall.

He linked White to the Cardinals, who are expected to release veteran James Conner at some point. That would leave Trey Benson, who is coming off a disappointing year due to injury as the default top option in the Cardinals’ backfield.

It’s a perfect opportunity for White to come in and carve out a leading role. And, he’d be back in Arizona, where he played for the Arizona State Sun Devils from 2020-2021.

The Cardinals are entering a new era under the recently-hired Mike LaFleur, who’s shown a pension for using multiple backs in the past. He recently did as much with the Kyren Williams-Blake Corum duo in Los Angeles and it worked out well, as they have become one of the NFL’s best 1-2 punches over the last year.

White is a tough, physical runner that can bring an effective punch to the new-look Cardinals offense that should feature a new starting quarterback, as well. In all, it’d be a great opportunity for White to help build something from the ground up while getting the extra playing time he craves.
