The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are primed to see a familiar face in more ways than one on Sunday.

Not only are the Saints Tampa's biggest rival in the NFC South, but Jameis Winston, Tampa's former number one pick and a five-year starter, looks like he is going to be at the helm for the Saints.

That's good news for the Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers currently have one of the best defenses in the NFL. Between weaker teams like the Bears and some of the best offenses in the NFL in the Eagles, Tampa's defense has stood strong when it matters.

Jameis Winston hasn't been a huge fan of facing good defenses for most of his career.

While Winston did have some upside as a gunslinger, constant interceptions, holding onto the ball too long, and overall issues with turnovers have plagued his career and made him too much of a gamble to count on.

30 interceptions in a season speaks for itself.

An offensive guru like Sean Payton has the talent to get the most out of a loose-cannon like Winston, as seen through a few good games in 2021, but numerous injuries since then and a coaching change have left more bad that good in Winston's game.

All of this means Tampa's defense is going to eat on Sunday.

Not only is Winston liable to turn the ball over, something that should happen plenty, but it is clear that he is a major step back from Derek Carr as a starter, something seen through the fact that he lost a 17-point lead for the Saints in relief of an injured Carr.

Winston might be a little better-suited to start after a week of practice with the top guys, but even that shouldn't be enough to overcome one of the best defenses in the NFL.
