The rehab and recovery of Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR has been one of the biggest question marks of the 2025 offseason. It appears as though there could be an answer, albeit one that’s not terribly encouraging or surprising.
According to Tampa Bay Times reporter Rick Stroud, Godwin is beginning training camp rehabbing his ankle rather than participating in team-related activities at this point.
Godwin suffered a gruesome dislocated ankle and was carted off the field late in the Bucs’ Week Seven loss to the Baltimore Ravens. It was particularly unfortunate, as it occurred in the game’s final minute, with the Ravens up on the Bucs 41-31 and Tampa Bay with the ball inside their own 20.
Still, Godwin had a strong market this offseason, with a number of teams not all that concerned with the effect the ankle injury might have on him for 2025 and beyond. Even so, Godwin and the Bucs reached a deal to come back, with the sides agreeing on a 3-year, $66 million deal that will keep him in Tampa through the 2027 season.
The Bucs managed to hedge their bets a little bit this offseason at the receiver position – even if that wasn’t their primary intent – by selecting Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka with the 19th overall pick. Between Mike Evans, Jalen McMillian, and Egbuka, the Bucs can get by at the wide receiver position if Godwin isn’t ready to go against Atlanta on September 7.
But there’s no doubt that the Bucs’ offense has another gear to it when #14 is on the field for the pewter and red.
The Bucs’ training camp begins in full on Tuesday, when the veterans report to camp.

Talk about last minute, but hey, it only matters they got it done. Morrison gets 96% of his deal guaranteed by the Buccaneers as the 53rd pick. It ends a long stalemate that […]
