NASHVILLE — In the introductory press conference for Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson and offensive coordinator Nick Holz, head coach Brian Callahan shared that his 2024 coaching staff was "about 90-95 percent done."

But there are still a few notable roles that will need to be filled over the next few days/weeks. According to Brian Callahan, Tennessee will still be looking to hire a special teams coordinator, assistant offensive line coach, and strength coach to the 2024 staff.

"Obviously, I haven't hired a special teams coordinator yet. That is hopefully coming soon," said Callahan on Wednesday, "We've interviewed quite a few people for it. There might be a secondary—there's an assistant offensive line coach job that is still open that we're in the process of interviewing. And then, obviously with Frank (Piraino) going to New York, there's a strength coach job that is open as well."

The Titans fired special teams Craig Aukerman before the 2023 season had even concluded, leaving special teams assistant Tom Quinn to fill in as the interim. Quinn was not retained to Callahan's staff, leaving the role of special teams coordinator vacant.

With Bill Callahan joining his son's staff, offensive line coach Jason Houghtaling was also not retained by the Titans. While offensive line assistant Matt Jones is expected to be back, his role has been shifted to offensive assistant. An assistant offensive line coach is still needed and I'd expect the hire to be someone who has worked with Bill Callahan in the past.

As for the strength coach, former Titans director of sports performance Frank Piraino is now the director of strength and conditioning for the New York Giants. Tennessee will not only need to replace Piraino, but also make decisions about the members of his strength staff.

The Titans retained three members of Piraino's strength staff, but according to Brian Callahan, that will be a subject discussed in interviews for the director of sports performance.  "That's always going to be part of the conversation," said Callahan. "But the people that we've retained, just similar to the coaches we've retained, in the process are with us to start. And when you get new people in, you have conversations, and they have opportunities to interview themselves. And that's sort of how that works, just in general, coaches and strength staff will be very similar. So, anytime you're hiring a new person, there's always an influx of potential new people. So that's the nature of our business. And I think we're all on the same page with it."
