INDIANAPOLIS – Veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford is returning to the Los Angeles Rams after meeting with the team to decide his future today. It's the first quarterback domino to fall this offseason, and one that will have a significant impact on the rest of the offseason.

For the Tennessee Titans, Stafford's return to LA is a positive. It puts Tennessee one step closer to the "dream" NFL Draft scenario that fans have been asking for.

With Stafford off the table for the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders, the Titans have even more leverage for a trade than they did before.

Trade back with Giants

The Raiders and Giants were very serious about trying to acquire Stafford. Reports say that both teams made "aggressive financial offers" including "multi-year deals with significant guarantees" to lure him out of LA.

With Stafford returning, it makes both teams, particularly the Giants, desperate for a solution to their QB problem. It could force New York's hand and push them to give up what the Titans are asking for in a trade for the number one overall pick.

Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com has asserted that a Giants-Titans trade for the No. 1 overall pick would be the most likely outcome for New York if they didn't land Stafford.

A trade back to third overall would be a dream scenario for the Titans. If Tennessee isn't going to land a quarterback in the draft, moving back and acquiring additional capital but still landing a player like Abdul Carter would be ideal.

The Titans need edge rushers. They also need more star talent that can take over a game. Carter is both.

If Tennessee can get multiple second round picks to move back two spots, I think they would take it.
