Titans make winning trade deadline deal with the devil, sending their fastest rising player to the Baltimore Ravens
The Titans move their third player of 2025 before the deadline for draft capital.
It’s no secret the Titans are trade deadline sellers, and they made their first true “deadline” move the night before deadline day. It came out Monday evening that Tennessee was sending EDGE Dre’Mont Jones to the Baltimore Ravens for a 2026 conditional 5th round pick.
Somehow, the Titans always end up getting tangled up with the Ravens. These two fanbases hate each other, but they’re clearly forever tied to one another somehow. And this latest deal is a nice return for Tennessee.
Titans trade Dre’Mont Jones for an additional pick
This one isn’t a pick swap! The Titans—and most of the rest of the league this year, it seems—had only gotten pick swaps in return for the two players they’d already moved. The “tradable” players still on this roster don’t seem to be worth a whole lot, and it wasn’t clear if GM Mike Borgonzi would be able to get any buyers on the hook for a full pick or not.
He did with the Ravens, who decided they’re willing to give up a fourth round pick if all goes to plan with Jones down the stretch. The conditions of the trade that would trigger the 5th turning into a 4th are unclear at this time, and typically have to do with playing time and/or counting stat production.
For now, the pick will be the Jets’ original pick that the Ravens own. That itself is good news for Tennessee, and the Jets don’t appear to be going anywhere fast at the bottom of the league alongside them. So that stands to be a pick at the very front of the 5th round. If they trigger the 4th, it becomes the Ravens’ original pick which Baltimore hopes is towards the back of the fourth round. All of that is to say, triggering the elevation in round probably ends up looking more like a half-round jump if it happens at all.
It seemed clear the Titans would move one of their pass rushers at the deadline between Jones, Arden Key, and Jihad Ward. I laid out the three trades the Titans need to make for an ideal deadline in this article on Monday, and Jones was one of them. This trade ended up being roughly the same value I projected here too, though Borgonzi did a bit better in landing an additional pick!
Jones has made himself the most attractive of the Titans’ pass rusher options, with 4.5 sacks, 21 pressures, and 26 total tackles on the season. All 4.5 sacks, 13 of his pressures and 14 of his tackles came in the past four games, where he’s really come alive and made himself an attractive trade option. Now, he gets to go play for a team that still fancies itself a contender.
