The Tennessee Titans are planning to hire Kansas City Chiefs assistant general manager Mike Borgonzi as their new general manager.

NFL Insider Adam Schefter has reported that a contract hasn't been officially worked out yet, but both sides want to and are expected to get it done.

Borgonzi has been with the Chiefs since 2009, breaking in as a College Scouting Administrator under then GM Scott Piolo. He would go on to work his way up to Assistant Director of Pro Scouting, then Director of player personnel.

Following that, Borgonzi was promoted to Director of Football Operations in 2020 and then became the team's assistant General Manager in 2021. The Titans went through a thorough process before deciding on Borgonzi. Here is the full list of other candidates who they considered, per A to Z Sports' Easton Freeze.

Borgonzi went through two rounds interviews with the Titans before landing the job. He certainly has the body of work to have earned the opportunity to be a GM. It remains to be seen who Chiefs GM Brett Veach will choose to replace Borgonzi, but he did have a comment about Borgonzi heading to Tennessee.

"Long-time coming—one of the hardest-working guys in the business," Veach said. "Tennessee made the right choice."

Veach has done two major deals with the Titans recently, trading them cornerback L'Jarius Sneed during the offseason for a 2025 third-round pick. Then in October, K.C. acquired wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins from Tennessee for a conditional fifth-round pick.
