The Washington Commanders are still, in fact, dancing, with the team advancing to the NFC championship this week.

The Commanders are playing with house money at this point, as no one could describe this season as anything but a success. Whether their season ends this week or after a Super Bowl victory, they will head into the offseason with the goal of building off this year's success.

In a new A to Z Sports mock draft, they land an athletic freak at a position of need, who would help them do just that.

Commanders land a player Dan Quinn would love to coach in Texas A&M edge rusher Nic Scourton in a new mock draft

"Washington has found some good bargain-bin pass rushers out of free agency, but with some of them heading back to free agency in the offseason, they should look to add a long-term player here.

Nic Scourton has to fix his body but his quickness mixed with the power he added this season, he has the potential to be a terrific pass rusher at the NFL level."

The evaluation of Nic Scourton will be all over the place this draft cycle. His elite size and crazy athletic profile will have people buzzing, but his production took a hit in 2024 after making the move to the SEC from the Big Ten. He recorded 12 sacks and 17 tackles for loss during his first two collegiate seasons at Purdue but was only able to record five sacks and 14 tackles for loss at Texas A&M.

If he had been able to surpass his 2023 numbers of 10 sacks and 15 tackles for loss after making the move to the SEC, we would probably be talking about him as a top-10 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Instead, he is an option for the Commanders to monitor in the first round. Quinn has often been a fan of long, athletic edge rushers, so Scourton could truly be the apple of his eye this cycle. And with Dante Fowler set to hit free agency, this could be a match made in heaven.

Commanders need to get ready to say goodbye to one of their most important employees

The Washington Commanders are prepping for an NFC Championship Game tilt against the Philadelphia Eagles after a very successful regular season, so of course it makes sense that a lot of teams around the league are thinking about plucking guys from the building. Defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. interviewed with the New York Jets for […]
