The Washington Commanders’ loss to the Dallas Cowboys was already bad, but now it’s getting even worse after a few injuries.

Quarterback Jayden Daniels left the game early with a hamstring injury, and he’s not the only one, as the Commanders also lost their best player on defense. The pass rush was the only hope for this defense this season, and it just took a major hit.

The defense is already bad enough, but it might actually get way worse now after Dorance Armstrong left the game early with an injury, and he is now out for the season.

Dorance Armstrong is out for the season with an injury

One of the only bright spots on this defense all season has been Armstrong, who leads the team in sacks with 5.5, and has one of the highest pressure rates in the league as a defensive end. The Commanders will now be without their key defender for the rest of the year with a significant knee injury, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Armstrong didn’t practice at all this week with a hamstring injury, and people didn’t know if he would actually play. Of course, he wanted to push through it for his team, and in his return to Dallas against his former team. The knee injury was not related to his existing injury, and Quinn said he landed wrong on a step.

The Commanders are running out of bodies

The season-ending injury for Armstrong is one of many big-time losses this season. Deatrich Wise has already been out for the season since Week 2, then Javontae Jean-Baptiste got hurt weeks ago and will be out for a long period of time, and now Armstrong will be missing.

The team recently signed defensive end Drake Jackson, but he went to the IR to continue to recover from his knee injury. The depth chart is looking very thin, and now the team will lean on Jacob Martin, Preston Smith, and Von Miller, which isn’t sustainable at all.

The Commanders have to add another player, like Jalyn Holmes, whom they just released, and another veteran somewhere. Quinn said they will explore all options for replacing Armstrong. The injuries are piling up, and the defense doesn’t look like it will improve anytime soon. This is one of the biggest losses of the season, with the Commanders losing their best defender.
