The Washington Commanders are in Arizona for the NFL Annual League Meetings, and we’re finally hearing from the team for the first time since multiple moves have been made.

The Commanders added a lot of new talent in free agency, but they also let players walk, even if they weren’t a free agent. We were all surprised to see the Commanders release starting center Tyler Biadasz before free agency, and we waited to see their next move. Nothing happened, and head coach Dan Quinn finally revealed one key factor that makes no sense at all.

Head coach Dan Quinn says the Commanders didn’t try to trade Tyler Biadasz

Quinn spoke with the media at the NFL Annual League Meetings, where he was asked about Biadasz, and he revealed that the Commanders didn’t try to trade him before he was released.

We saw the Commanders release Biadasz, and he didn’t last long on the market after signing with the Los Angeles Chargers on a three-year, $30 million deal. Soon after Biadasz was released, we also saw another center move with Garrett Bradbury being traded from the New England Patriots to the Chicago Bears for a fifth-round pick.

Now, the Commanders still only have six picks in the NFL Draft, and a lot of uncertainty at one of the most critical positions. Quinn also talked about the current state of the center position, and fans should be concerned.

Dan Quinn updates the center position

The Commanders still need to figure out who will be snapping to QB Jayden Daniels, who will be under center more than he ever has next season. Quinn said that there’s currently a battle between Nick Allegretti, who just signed an extension, and Julian Good-Jones, but the door is open to adding more in the draft, or any players that become available.

There’s no way the Commanders should go into the offseason workouts with just Allegretti starting at center. He looked good in his limited time at center, but we haven’t seen enough to name him a starter. The Commanders can add someone in the NFL Draft in the third round and beyond, like Sam Hecht, Jake Slaughter, and many others.

Finding a starting center on day three, where they have four of their six picks, would help this become an impactful draft class.
