The 49ers only held a seven-point lead over the Cowboys with 14 minutes remaining in the first half despite dominating all facets of the game. They changed that in spectacular fashion on their fifth offensive possession.
San Francisco had spurned a huge opportunity for points when Christian McCaffrey fumbled on the two-yard line after the Niners had recovered a Tony Pollard fumble on the previous series.
But a quick 49ers stop and an excellent Ray-Ray McCloud return set the 49ers up on the Dallas 38-yard line, and they instantly cashed in with a superb trick play.
Brock Purdy handed the ball off to McCaffrey, who in turn dropped it off to Deebo Samuel coming back across the formation to pitch it back to Purdy who, despite a defender bearing down on him, hit George Kittle in stride to allow the tight end to race down the right sideline for his second score of the night.
It gave the 49ers a 14-0 lead, with a matchup billed as the game of the year so far quickly becoming very one-sided.
