Biggest Games on the Commanders' 2024 Schedule
Commanders vs. Bears: I mean, the top-2 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft potentially facing off against each other is must-see TV and both fan bases are big enough to where this will be a big game – whatever week and whichever night it's broadcasted.
Commanders at Ravens: The Ravens are considered Super Bowl contenders – what better "prove-it" game is on the schedule for Washington? Plus, there were some Jayden Daniels-Lamar Jackson comps before the draft, which adds a cool layer.
Commanders at Bengals: Washigton has an opportunity to make a big statement on the road, early in the season, on Monday Night Football. What better regular season opportunity could a young team ask for?
Both Commanders-Cowboys games: We have former coaching co-workers and former Cowboys players going up against their old mates. It's going to be a lot of fun watching who can get the best of one another and the fact that the Cowboys are the final opponent of the regular season makes it even better.
Primetime matchups with streaming info
Which games will be primetime viewing and which ones will be streamed?
The Commanders have a total of two primetime games in 2024:
- Week 3, Sept. 23: Commanders at Bengals (MNF)
How to watch/stream: Access to ESPN or ESPN+ is required to watch this game. Those two are like the NFL above – they can be obtained through cable, satellite, and/or streaming services.
- Week 11, Nov. 14: Commanders at Eagles (TNF)
How to watch/stream: You will have to have an Amazon Prime account in order to stream this game. Some local channels will still broadcast the game, but that's not a guarantee.
Strength of Schedule (based off Vegas win totals, not 2023 record)
Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis does this cool thing every year where he ranks teams' strength of schedule based off Vegas' projected win totals for the upcoming season. He doesn't base it off the standard last-year's-record model and it makes a lot more sense, because of all the change teams go through during the offseason.
Sharp has the Commanders' SOS as the 13th-easiest, as you can see below:

Revenge Games on the Commanders' 2024 schedule
- Dorance Armstrong/Tyler Biadasz/parts of the Commanders coaching staff vs. the Cowboys: These guys will certainly be looking for a win -two wins to be exact- against Dallas during the regular season. The fact the two rivals face off in the season finale, where playoff hopes could be on the line, only heightens the drama.
- Kirk Cousins comes back: Cousins returns to Washington, the team that drafted him and eventually handed him the reigns, igniting a successful career that has seen him make a lot of money. Unfortunately Cousins' relationship with the franchise wasn't the best, so he'll certainly be looking to carve it up through the air.
- Kliff Kingsbury gets to help beat Kyler Murray and the Cardinals: The former Cardinals head coach will go up against his former team and Murray, a player whom he's familiar with since his college days.
- Frankie Luvu gets to make the Panthers pay for not paying him: Luvu spent his the last three years of his NFL career with Carolina before moving to Washington – I'm sure he'll be looking to make some plays against his former teammates.
3 Must-watch Matchups
- Dan Quinn and Joe Whitt Jr. vs. Mike McCarthy, Dak Prescott, and the Cowboys: How much fun will this be? All of these guys know each other very well and they know each other's tendencies. It should add a whole new layer to the rivalry.
- Daron Payne/Jonathan Allen vs. Graham Barton: The Commanders' pass rushing duo has a chance to give Barton multiple "Welcome to the NFL" moments when Washington plays the Bucs.
- Jayden Daniels vs. Caleb Williams: Yes, these two don't actually play each other on the field, but it's still considered a showdown between the two, which works enough. Plus, let's be real: it's exciting to think about.
