The Kansas City Chiefs are in one of the more historical divisions in the NFL. The AFC West has a ton of history that comes with all three teams. Yes, three, let's just be honest with ourselves.
The Chiefs, Broncos, and Raiders all hate each other and have a history against each other. But, they all have something in common too.
All three are some of the most respected franchises in the history of the game, and all three now have three Super Bowl wins.
But, this last Super Bowl win for the Chiefs just officially made them the best and most historical franchise in the division. So, if you have friends on the other teams and you get into arguments about it, here is why they are the best.
Let's just start with the known, the Chargers are easily the worst historical franchise in the division and have never even won a Super Bowl, so they are automatically eliminated from contention.
The Raiders, Broncos, and Chiefs have all played 63 seasons, so the sample size is fair.
Las Vegas is 3-5 in Super Bowls, but has yet to win a playoff game in 21 seasons, and has the lowest winning percentage all-time of the three teams at .520. The Chiefs are 70-53-2 against the Raiders all time.
The Broncos are 3-8 in Super Bowls and have an all-time winning percentage of .523. The Chiefs are 71-54 against the Broncos all time, not to mention 14 straight wins.
The Chiefs are now 3-5 in Super Bowls with an all-time winning percentage of .546, the highest in the division, and have the winning record against every team in the division by a wide margin. They have also won the division for seven years in a row, which is the longest streak in the division.
Even back in the day when the Seattle Seahawks were in the division, the Chiefs have the head-to-head record advantage in that area as well.
So, it is safe to say that this Super Bowl officially makes the Chiefs the best team historically in the division.
