Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Cedric Tillman didn't take long to make a strong impression in the NFL.
Tillman, a former three-star recruit who spent five seasons with the Vols, was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft (Tillman was drafted one pick after his former UT teammate Jalin Hyatt was selected by the New York Giants).
On Monday, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski met with reporters at Cleveland's training camp and he had some positive things to say about Tillman and the former Vol's work ethic.
"Cedric's done a nice job going back to the spring," said Stefanski on Monday. "He's very diligent, works hard at it, spends a lot of time at his craft. He's up very, very early. Gets extra work with Dorian (Thompson-Robinson) I know — because he wants to get it right. So he's a young man that's doing it the right way. And it's just gonna be a matter of banking as many reps as possible."
One thing that players selected from Tennessee who played under Heupel seem to have in common is that they're almost always praised as hard workers.
We've heard positive comments about Hendon Hooker and Jalin Hyatt, among others, so it's no surprise to hear this comment about Tillman (a player who worked hard last season to return as quickly as possible from an ankle injury).
Tillman has the talent to be a key player for the Browns. He can stretch the field vertically and he's almost automatic when it comes to jump balls. Combine his talent with his work ethic and it's easy to see why some Cleveland fans feel like the Browns got a major steal by landing Tillman in the third round.
