Auburn Tigers continue to prove they could have a potential carbon copy of one of the best players in the entire country
Cam Coleman of the Auburn Tigers is continuing to show that he could be a carbon copy of Jeremiah Smith.
With this being a crucial year for Auburn Tigers head coach Hugh Freeze, all phases of the team this year have to be perfect. They’ve been recruiting so well as of late, with some really good players. But now it’s time to put it all together.
This roster has some really, really good players that can win you a lot of football games. The roster also has the potential to be a very balanced team on both sides of the ball. The offense has the potential to be great, that is, if all things click the way they are supposed to, and the coaching and play calling are good.
And one of the best things about this roster is that they have two players who have the potential to be a top-five player in the country by the time the season is done, or at least by the start of next season, if those two players return.
One is defensive end Keldrick Faulk, who, as a second-year starter last season as a sophomore, finished with seven sacks in the SEC. This year, he could nearly double that. And, if he decides to stay for his senior year next year, he could be one of the best players in the country.
The same goes for a guy on the offensive side of the ball, who is looking like a carbon copy of the best player in the country.
Cam Coleman is showing out at Tigers’ fall camp
Fall camp is here, and has been for the last few weeks, and there have been some pretty insane plays to happen throughout camp. It’s safe to say that Eric Singleton Jr., the transfer wide receiver, and Cam Coleman have had the bulk of those highlight plays.
Right now, there isn’t really a debate that Jeremiah Smith, the Ohio State wide receiver, is the best player in the country as a second-year player. He finished with over 1,300 receiving yards in his true freshman year in the Big Ten. 2025 could have him with nearly 2,000 receiving yards. He’s undisputedly the best wide receiver in the country.
But, Cam Coleman, the sophomore wide receiver for the Tigers, looks like he can be a carbon copy of Smith, mainly because of the same build and style they both play. And, that doesn’t mean Coleman will be better than Smith, but it’s saying that he can be something similar, and maybe in the same stratosphere as Smith.
At fall camp, Coleman has been showing out. He’s had some insane catches, including one in one-on-ones where he came down with a 50-50 ball that probably favored the defender more.
Jackson Arnold, or even Deuce Knight when it’s all said and done, is going to have fun throwing to Coleman. And then for Knight, he will get to throw to four-star wide receiver Jase Mathews, whom they just landed.
This Auburn team could be fun to watch, and Coleman, who they have the potential to be the best at what he does, is a guy who seems to be leading the charge.
