We're still a ways away from the watching then new 12-team College Football Playoffs unfold, but that doesn't mean we can't have some fun predicting the future until then.

Earlier this week, A to Z Sports college football managing editor Travis May put together some early data driven predictions for how the playoff could look in December

These rankings will change throughout the season (and we'll keep track of the changes). But for now, May has Georgia as the No. 5 seed in the playoffs. That means the Bulldogs would play at home in the first round.

And in May's initial prediction, he has Georgia playing and defeating No. 12 Liberty "Between the Hedges."

After that, the Dawgs take on Kansas State to advance to the final four where they'll face Texas.

May has Carson Beck and the Bulldogs taking down Quinn Ewers and the Longhorns in what would be a thrilling rematch of the SEC Championship game.

"This could be the potential game of the year here. Two 2025 NFL Draft first round quarterbacks facing off in an epic rematch of the SEC Championship game backed by incredible skill talent and nothing but blue chip players everywhere. This battle will be won through the air as two strong quarterbacks try to make their mark on college football history. And one of them very well could be fresh off a Heisman Trophy win too."

But then heartbreak sets in. Georgia makes it to the National Championship game vs. Ohio State… and loses.

"In a rematch of the semifinal game from two years ago Georgia faces off with Ohio State. This time it's Georgia that misses the potential game-winning field goal at the last second as Ryan Day is vindicated, winning his first national championship with the Ohio State Buckeyes."

Travis May’s 2024 College Football Playoff prediction.

May has Clemson, LSU, Utah, and Michigan as his first four teams out of the playoffs.

We'll continue to keep up with the Dawgs and where they stand as far as playoffs are concerned and hopefully, this prediction turns into another cold take come January.
