Carson Beck almost pulled off one of the greatest comebacks in the history of college football last week against Alabama after a slow start to the first half for Georgia. The Crimson Tide were up 28-0 deep into the 2nd quarter, but Beck helped Georgia claw their way back to take a 34-33 lead late.

Unfortunately for Georgia, after Alabama inevitably took the lead, winning the game 41-34, and the dust had settled Beck was left with three interceptions and a safety taken on the game. How much did that actually hurt his draft stock according to top analysts around the sport this week? The answer might surprise.

Carson Beck's NFL Draft Stock Heading Into Auburn Game

It might be early on in the process, but new 2025 NFL mock drafts are emerging every single week already. Prior to the season, Carson Beck's NFL Draft stock according to all the major big boards and mock drafts out there from top analysts around the nation had him going at or near the first overall pick next spring.

However, after two less far-less-than-perfect games against both Kentucky and Alabama it was clear that consensus was wavering on Carson Beck's potential number one overall status for the 2025 NFL Draft. One of the best resources out there that pools together every major mock draft in existence is Mock Draft Database. You can see in their post below that Beck fell significantly in mock drafts this week.

Carson Beck dropping from first overall to the eighth pick might seem like a sharp fall at first glance, but in the end he's still very clearly considered an early first round NFL Draft quarterback prospect by most. Yes, three interceptions against Alabama isn't great. And yes, his pre- and post-snap reads may need some improvement. But according to analysts who cover the sport closely he's obviously still in a good spot. It's not just mock drafters online either.

Tim Tebow, one of the great college quarterbacks ever and a former first round pick himself, joined the Paul Finebaum show on Friday where he shared his thoughts on Carson Beck's Alabama performance:

"The first pick was not on [Carson Beck]. The second pick was…[Beck] threw it right into the defensive back's face. The third pick…That's just him trying to make a play…But he didn't flinch. He kept fighting. He kept coming back."

Tebow shared that he was impressed with Carson Beck, who could have easily given up when Alabama took their 28-point lead. Thankfully head coach Kirby Smart didn't give up either. He kept his cool, inspiring his team saying "I don't know what the second half is going to look like, but I do know this. When we watch it, we're going to find out a lot about ourselves."

After that halftime message, Beck stepped back onto the field and threw three touchdowns, racking up nearly all of his 439 passing yards on the game.

Per NFL scouting sources that spoke to CBS Sports earlier this week, many of them aren't putting too much stock in Beck's first half after he dominated in the second:

"Honestly, the second half was awesome. The first half wasn't good. But to me, that's why I'm not putting too much into it because you take a really bad first half and a really good second half. You almost just balance it out. So I'm not crushing the kid for the game."

It seems as though NFL scouts and draft analysts alike aren't dropping Carson Beck too far down their boards ahead of Georgia's matchup with Auburn. However, it would certainly help if Beck bounced back big time against an SEC rival like Auburn.

Last year Beck and Georgia got off to a very slow start against the Tigers in the first half tied 10-10, but ultimately won 27-20 thanks to some late game heroics from star tight end Brock Bowers. Beck may have to do the heavy lifting this time around now that he doesn't have elite depth at his skill positions. And if he does? That should certainly ease the minds of any critics following his two lackluster performances.
