The Georgia Bulldogs are going to be without their top wide receiver, Colbie Young, for an extended period of time after he injured his leg in Saturday’s 43-35 win over Ole Miss on Saturday.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart gave an update on Young after the game, and while he couldn’t pinpoint the exact injury, he knew it was anything but good news.

“Yeah. I should know what it is. It’s not good,” Smart said. “It’s a fracture down there. It’s broken. I can’t remember if it was tibia or fibula. I don’t know which one. But it’s not good.”

Young went down during Georgia’s opening drive in the first quarter and did not return. He was spotted after the game walking with crutches.

Young had just one catch for 36 yards before leaving.

He leaves for the sidelines after hauling in 336 yards on 23 receptions and one score so far this season.

It’s time for London Humphrey’s to step up

Young’s injury is a huge loss for Georgia’s offense, and ESPN’s Holly Rowe summed up just how big an impact he has been during the game.

“Colbie Young, who is the second-leading receiver for the Georgia Bulldogs, is out right now with an ankle injury,” Rowe said during the broadcast. “He is one of their top targets. In fact, Mike Bobo [was] telling us, he was trying to target him 10 times a game right now, along with Zachariah Branch. I’ll keep you posted if he’s able to return, but that is a big blow for Georgia’s offense right now.”

With Young out of the lineup for now, that means more opportunities for not only Zachariah Branch but also London Humpreys. Humpreys has 13 catches for 165 yards and two scores this season.

Georgia also has two tight ends, Lawson Luckie and Oscar Delp, to lean on moving forward. We already saw them step up immediately after Young went down.
