The Georgia Bulldogs suffered a bit of a recruiting scare earlier this week.
One of Georgia’s top 2027 recruiting targets is easily five-star running back Kemon Spell.
Spell, 5-foot-10/205 pounds from McKeesport, PA, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 running back in the nation and the No. 7 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.
On3’s Steve Wiltfong made a prediction on Tuesday for the Penn State Nittany Lions to land Spell.

Bulldogs fans, as expected, didn’t love that prediction from Wiltfong.
Spell, after all, is one of the most dynamic high school players in the nation. He’s a guy that’s going to be playing on Sundays in the near future if he stays healthy. And losing him to Penn State would be a gut punch for Georgia.
That’s why it’s a positive for UGA fans that On3’s Chad Simmons still sees the Bulldogs as the team to beat for Spell.
“The former Penn State commit has Georgia sitting at the top of his list,” noted Simmons on Thursday. “Spell is also planning a return visit to Athens later this month, with Miami, Notre Dame, and Penn State heavily involved as well. This recruitment remains fluid, but the Bulldogs are in the lead battling the Nittany Lions. He will be back on campus at the end of the month.”
There’s still a long way to go in this recruiting battle, and plenty can change. But for now, it sounds like Georgia is in a great spot for Spell.
