Don’t look now but the Michigan Wolverines and Ohio State Buckeyes are once again in a heated battle against the other, this time on the recruiting trail. Both programs have made the finalists list for 2026 top-100 Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill defensive tackle Deuce Geralds. They are joined by LSU, Oregon, and Ole Miss in that final group.

Geralds is set to make his college decision on August 2nd, and it sounds like a final decision has not been made as of yet. That gives head coach Sherrone Moore and the Wolverine staff plenty of time to make their final pitch to Geralds. This recruitment is still viewed to be pretty wide open.

From a recruiting rankings perspective, Geralds is well liked. He currently ranks as the No. 73 overall player and No. 9 defensive lineman in the 2026 recruiting class according to the 247Sports Composite ranking. That rating also has Geralds pegged as the No. 8 player in the state of Georgia, an area that develops next level talent as well as anyone nationally.

Outside of his finalists, Geralds has garnered the attention from a long list of prominent programs. Some of his other top offers include Georgia, Notre Dame, Alabama, Texas, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Penn State, Miami, Clemson, USC, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Missouri, Colorado, Kentucky, Louisville, Arkansas, Kansas State, Pittsburgh, Mississippi State, NC State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, UNC, Purdue, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Duke, Kansas, and Cincinnati among many, many others.

Despite being a smaller defensive tackle at 6-2 and 265 pounds, Geralds has been a dominate presence for Collins Hill during his career. As a junior in 2024, Geralds managed to collect 114 total tackles, 30 tackles for loss, and 13 sacks. Geralds also has recorded a forced fumble, blocked a kick, and broke up two passes.

If Michigan was able to steal this type of talent out of SEC country, it would be a monumental victory. If they were able to best Ohio State while doing so, it would just be the cherry on top.

With the success that the Wolverines have had recently at defensive tackle with the likes of Mason Graham, Kenneth Grant, and Kris Jenkins, it’s a pretty easy sell for prospective interior defensive linemen. We will know soon if it was enough to lure Geralds out of the Southeast.
