When 2025 Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange safety Ivan Taylor committed to Notre Dame last December, most believed that was the end of the story. Taylor, who is one of the more dynamic defensive backs in the class, seems to exemplify everything that a “Notre Dame man” stands for. In the end, he chose a different path, and that is ultimately his decision about what is best.

Back in July, Taylor chose to flip his commitment to the University of Michigan. At that time, he was coming off of visits to both Ann Arbor and Alabama. Funny enough, it appears that the latter is in position to force a second flip. There was a precision recently put in for Taylor to end up with the Crimson Tide.

If he does end up with Alabama, it would be a massive grab for the Crimson Tide. Taylor is considered to be a consensus four-star player by every major recruiting platform, and a top 100 overall player by both 247Sports (No. 41) and ESPN (No. 50). On that 247Sports ranking, the Florida native is currently considered the No. 2 safety in the 2025 recruiting class.

The offer list for Taylor also matches the current recruiting rankings. Outside of Notre Dame, Michigan, and Alabama, there is another long list of impressive suitors. Some of Taylor’s other top offers include Miami, Ole Miss, Florida State, Tennessee, Florida, USC, Penn State, South Carolina, Wisconsin, and Pittsburgh among many others.

The 6-0, 175-pound defender has been tremendous for West Orange as a senior. In six games, he has recorded 50 total tackles, six tackles for loss, and four interceptions. Taylor has also broken up another six passes.
