After going 0-3 down the stretch on the 2025 wide receiver board this summer, Notre Dame fans have been waiting anxiously for the Irish staff to expand the board. What is the next step? That’s something that has been asked a ton by the fans. They wanted to know if wide receivers coach Mike Brown could find some answers.
It appears we have gotten some insight into that answer recently, with three talented 2025 pass catchers having been offered this week. The trio is a very interesting group of players, one of which looks like a no-brainer, while there are questions with a couple others.
Here is that list, and how excited you should be as a Notre Dame fan.
Jalen Cooper – Cibolo (Texas) Steele
Whoa buddy… Cooper can really, really, really play. His combination of offer list, landings, and film is pretty odd. For a player who dominated competition as a junior, including 68 receptions for 1,661 yards and 23 touchdowns, his offer list is kind of bare. Cooper is currently committed to SMU but it appears that some bigger schools are going to make a run at him. Ranked as high as the No. 145 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class by On3, Cooper has a really nice combination of smoothness, straight line speed and ball skills.
Jace Brown – Downey (Calif.) Warren
Currently committed to UCLA, Brown is a very interesting player. At 6-2 and 195 pounds, the California native possesses an outstanding frame. He is also a strong athlete, showing a nice level of explosiveness. Brown is just raw right now, and wasn’t super productive as a junior, hauling in 46 receptions for 560 yards and six touchdowns. There are a nice level of tools to work with, and the upside is there. It’s going to be about developing and being patient with Brown.
Antavious Richardson – Greenville (Ga.) High School
This is probably the oddest offer that was extended by Notre Dame. Richardson is currently committed to South Florida as a defensive back, and plays a lot of quarterback for Greenville. As a junior, he rushed for 801 yards and two touchdowns, while averaging 11.6 yards per carry and recording 54 total tackles on defense. Richardson is a nice straight line athlete but there is no evidence for what type of pass catcher he could be. It will be interesting to see just how the Irish staff views him.
