After interceptions from both sides, there was some tenseness in Notre Dame Stadium during the team’s battle against the Indiana Hoosiers. The Irish got a stop, but were forced to begin the drive on the two-yard line. The game felt like it was going to be an offensive struggle on both sides, and little was expected in terms of scoring.

Then things changed in the blink of an eye. Backed up to the goal line, sophomore running back Jeremiyah Love bent a run toward the sideline and outraced the Hoosier defense 98 yards for a touchdown. It was the longest run of any player in college football this season.

It was also just another example of what makes Love so special. He has the type of talent to flip a game in an instance. The St. Louis native did just that, loosening the game up, which the Irish ended up coasting to a 27-17 that wasn’t nearly as close as that final score indicated.

Following the team’s 49-35 victory over the USC Trojans a couple of weeks ago, a lot of Notre Dame fans were worried about Love following an early exit due to a sprained knee. To make matters even worse, Love was also dealing with the flu according to his father Jason Love.

Even while recovering from a knee injury and fighting an illness, Love continues to amaze fans everywhere. He finished that game with 108 yards on just eight carries, a stellar 13.5 yard per carry average. Love couldn’t give a high volume of snaps, but he certainly made the most of his opportunities.

If Notre Dame is going to take down the Georgia Bulldogs on New Year’s Day, and continue to make a playoff push, Love is going to have to be a major difference maker. They just don’t make them like Love too much, especially in the blue and gold. He’s special.
