The Georgia Bulldogs are traveling to Alabama this weekend for perhaps the best matchup of the 2024 college football regular season. It’s the first time since 2007 that the Crimson Tide are underdogs at home, which makes for a lot of interesting storylines to follow. It should be no surprise that this type of football game is garnering national attention, as well as the attention of potential recruits.
That includes a couple of key targets for Notre Dame in the 2025 recruiting class. There will be two players to know who will be checking out this primetime game, seeing what both programs have to offer. How those visits go is worth keeping a close eye on.
ATH Antavious Richardson – Greenville (Ga.) High School
A high school quarterback, Richardson is being projected to both wide receiver and defensive back on the college level. He is currently committed to South Florida to play defense, but clearly he is keeping an open mind on the recruiting end. Notre Dame sees Richardson on the offensive side of the football, valuing his speed and upside. The Georgia native is a prominent track and field athlete, and is dynamite with the football in his hand. Richardson recently visited South Bend for the first time for their game against Miami (OH), and are viewed as a major contender.
EDGE Tim Griffin – Covington (Ga.) Alcovy
Griffin is a late rising defensive end who is listed now at 6-5 and 255 pounds. Some big programs have taken notice, which includes the Fighting Irish, Alabama and Florida among several others who have offered since the start of the season. It’s unclear what type of push the Irish could have, but obviously it’s unsurprising that Griffin is taking a deep look at a school like Alabama. We will see where things go from here, but adding this type of athlete on the defensive line is an intriguing option.
