In a somewhat surprising, and now verified visit, 2025 Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman wide receiver Derek Meadows will be visiting Notre Dame for the fourth time this weekend, checking out the Fighting Irish against Florida State. Meadows has been a massive target for Notre Dame for well over a year, but is currently committed to the LSU Tigers.

Even when the 6-6, 200-pound pass catcher committed to LSU in July, the Irish staff did not stop their pursuit of Meadows. There are some members of the program who are incredibly high on the dynamic pass catcher, and the upside that he brings to the table.

Meadows is considered a top-100 recruit by both 247Sports and Rivals. 247Sports ranks him highest, currently sitting as the No. 46 overall player, No. 7 wide receiver, and No. 1 player from Nevada in the 2025 recruiting class. The talented athlete is pegged as the No. 80 overall player in the class on the On3 Industry ranking.

After Notre Dame and Washington seemingly have been the two biggest contenders for almost a year, some big time programs ended up pursuing Meadows heavily. Outside of his obvious offers from LSU and the Irish, Meadows also holds offers from Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Oregon, Michigan, Florida, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Auburn, South Carolina, Utah, Arizona, BYU, Maryland, Michigan State, Cal and Iowa State among others.

No program is pursuing Meadows for the floor he brings to the table. His production does not currently match his overall athleticism. In 10 games, Meadows has hauled in 19 receptions for 445 yards and five touchdowns, averaging an outstanding 23.4 yards per reception. This has been Meadows’ most productive season of his career.

Obviously, it is a good sign for this Notre Dame program that Meadows is making this return trip, and on his own dime. There is some optimism on the Irish side, but the latest is that it is still unlikely that Meadows does end up with the Irish. We will see if this weekend changes anything.
